The first Gwen Tross Research Grant was awarded to a team of students, Z. Hack, V. Latchmenarine, P. Layne, S. Padmore, A. Reid, and R. Trotman, on March 5, 2008. Congratulations to the successful team and thank you to all the students who applied.

Gwendolin Tross was pleased to make award the grant on behalf of the Foundation. The successful team submitted a proposal on the efficacy of Home Based Care services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Region 3 (West Demerara). The students will conduct a series of questionnaires with their target population to assess if Home Based Care services presently offered are meeting the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in the area. The students will be encouraged to report their findings at local and international conferences.

Members of the Foundation would like to offer special thanks to the staff of the BSc Nursing program and Mr. Derek Fields for their support and assistance in the application and adjudication process. We look forward to providing updates on the progress of the project throughout the semester.
